Jan Donmez's feedback, ideas, and suggestions:
A message fee filters for serious people, which is great.
The crypto wallet requirement is a barrier. Lots of people don't have one.
-- Need to help them along. More guidance articles, videos, links.
-- Repeat some guidance provided by Metamask. E.g. link to Metamask's intro video.
-- Advise users to pin Metamask.
During setup, the Metamask popups (login and sign-verification) did not appear properly. They were hidden by the browser. Why ? How to guarantee that they appear above the browser, or at least can be found ?
Suggestion: A LinkedIn plugin that provides templates for replies.
Produce a demo video, in which you personally appear and guide a client through the app. Include chapters in the video for specific aspects of the app. Then, if you're on a call with someone, you can ask them to jump to a specific chapter and watch it. You explain that you'll stay on the call and continue with them afterwards. This means that you don't have to repeat yourself infinitely - you can let the video handle that.
-- Recommended tools: Camtasia, Wistia.
Tela looks nice - but not sexy. Hire a designer.
He would like "inbound communicators" to be filtered by message fee... but he doesn't want this to apply to a client or a friend. Something along the lines of "Hey, new business contacts, contact me on Tela" would be good.
My thoughts from the setup session:
Need to show users how to be sure that the wallet account has been connected to the website tela.app
When a user is starting a chat, show the other person's message price.
At 100 EUR / hour for Jan's time, and assuming that in one hour of chat conversation with someone he can send 30 messages and receive 30 messages (i.e. one message per minute during the chat), then:
100 EUR / 30 messages = 3.33 EUR / message ~= $4 / message
-- So Jan's message price is $4.
Template messages:
Example default reply to a direct message:
Hi there. I am available for chat but only on Tela:
https://tela.app/id/stjohn_piano/7b90ed
Jan thought for a while and wrote this response template:
Due to an overwhelming number of contact requests regarding business opportunities, please reach out to me directly on Tela if you're interested in discussing a potential sales opportunity. I appreciate your understanding and look forward to connecting. Contact me on Tela.

Jan showed me his LinkedIn inbox. It was full of messages from business development people. They don't just send one message. They keep going until they get a response. Some of them are using automated tools with a pre-programmed message sequence.
Jan replied to all of them with his new default response. His thinking is that this will cause them to either stop or contact him on Tela.
Jan's further thoughts on template messages:
1) These template message are useful. Try to expand them further. Put more emphasis on using them.
2) Add an extra link to an explainer page about Tela
- What is Tela ?
- Include a 1-minute video.
- Why is the person responding with this message instead of replying directly ?
- Emphasize that the responder will pay more attention to messages that come through Tela.
- An invitation: "Hey, by the way - would you also like to use Tela yourself ?"
Jan's experience of inbox overload:
Here's a sample (anonymized) message series in Jan's inbox:
